English is taught as a compulsory subject in B. Sc and B. Sc. Home Science The name of the course is Foundation Course in English. The faculty member uses multimedia and ICT in the day to day transaction of course. The attempt is made to make the classroom learner centric and participative. The students have ample space to discuss their problems and difficulties. The department encourages students to hone their communicative skills and oratory and trains students for participating in elocution competitions and essay writing competitions. The faculty working as coordinator of Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college, designs and implements strategies for maintenance and enhancement of quality of academic activities.

The faculty actively engages in research and publication, attends seminars and conferences, and delivers lectures as resource person. The faculty is recognized P. G. teacher and has published one book, Pathways to English, as a coauthored, by Cambridge University Press and the book is prescribed by Saurashtra University at undergraduate level for B. A. and B. Com.

The department also runs a centre of SCOPE (Society for Creation of Opportunities through Proficiency in English), a Government of Gujarat initiative in collaboration with Cambridge University. SCOPE provides the students training in English and ESOL certification. The centre encourages the students to appear for SCOPE examination. During the academic year 2010-11 more than 300 students appeared for SCOPE examination.
