Department of Foods & Nutrition

  • Foods & Nutrition Department of the college is a leading department in Saurashtra region since its beginning in 1980 and draws large number of students for professional training. The students of the department have topped in University Examination several times and the success rate has been almost cent percent through all these years. Our alumni are engaged as teachers in Saurashtra University, several colleges in the state, and in schools. Besides teaching, they are also engaged as dietitians in multispeciality hospitals, as quality controller in food industry in India and abroad, as project officer in government projects, and several are self-employed.
  • The department conducts number of activities that enrich the learning. These include field trips, exhibitions, seminars, workshops, guest lectures and presentation by students in academic events at national level and hosting academic events of state level.
  • A well equipped laboratory with optimum facilities make teaching – learning enjoyable experience. The departmental library with books on nutrition, educational CDs and reading material on value education is an added boon for the students as well as faculty of other departments.
  • Though a UG level institution, the faculties are actively involved in research work which serves as catalyst in teaching – learning process. All the faculty members have recognition for PG teaching. The department has two publications in international and two in national journals, five books and a UGC aided Research Project to its credit.
